Singapore, 07 September 2023 — Nordea Asset Management Singapore Pte. Ltd. (NAM SG) has been granted a Capital Markets Services License (CMS) by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, allowing it to bring its global investment offerings and services to institutional and accredited investors in Singapore as a licensed fund manager.

Nordea Asset Management (NAM) has been present in Singapore since 2018, but with the new CMS Fund Management licence in hand, NAM SG will now be responsible for driving its Asian business. The new hub allows NAM SG to better interact with local and regional institutions and understand how they are embracing sustainability. The hub is integrated with NAM’s ESG-focused internal investment boutiques as well as its portfolio managers covering the equities, fixed income and multi-assets investments..

In 2022, NAM appointed Ana Dhoraisingam as Head of Asia-Pacific Distribution ex-Japan, responsible for leading the firm’s Asia Pacific business development activities across both its wholesale and institutional business channels. Ms Dhoraisingam is also the CEO of NAM SG.

Nils Bolmstrand, CEO of Nordea Asset Management, commented:

“We are pleased to share the news of our Capital Markets Services License, which demonstrates our continued commitment to grow and support our clients in Asia. Leveraging our global investment capabilities and the expertise and legacy of Nordea, the largest financial services group in the Nordic region, we look forward to bringing more compelling global investment opportunities to Asian investors through our attractive equities, fixed income and multi-assets solutions.”

Ana Dhoraisingam, Head of Asia-Pacific Distribution ex-Japan, said:

“This is an exciting new phase for NAM.  Singapore and Asia are important growth markets for NAM and we welcome the license, which will allow us to deepen our footprint in the region and better serve our existing and future clients. With an investment team now on the ground in Singapore, NAM will be able to further capitalise on its global leadership position in sustainable investments, and share our capabilities in delivering returns with responsibility* to our institutional and wholesale clients in the region.”

Following the CMS license approval, NAM SG will be able to conduct regulated fund management activities including portfolio construction and allocation, research and advisory, business development, marketing and client servicing from Singapore. This caps off a year of development in the region and marks a significant step in NAM’s Asia strategy with further growth in the pipeline.
